Wild Sheep on Sandsøy

This is the first wild sheep lamb born on Sandsøy in newer times...
Torkild Cornelius Ahlquist Slagstad (it's his name!!...he-he)
These sheep go outside all year long. They take care of birth completely on their own. The sheep will eat grass, bark and even sea weed. Typically in our area, they will have to be given some food by the farmer Jan.-March because of thick snow layers.
Norwegian Wild sheep meat has been accepted into the 'Slow Food Foundation of Biodiversity'. The foundation was founded to preserve the quality of artisan products. It operates around the world and you will find everything from Tibetan cheese makers to Norwegian wild sheep on the list. Check out their website for more interesting information: www.slowfoodfoundation.com
