Lavvo Housewarming Party

A 'lavvo' is a same tent like a tipi. The preschool has purchased one for use when the weather is not too good and a small hike is all what the little ones can handle. You can sit in the lavvo and grill hot dogs and do other activities. It is just a little early in the year to install it in the desired location (too much snow there). The grown-ups decided it needed a house-warming party anyway. It was installed in a temporary place and it was ready to be tested .
Above: Rachel and Kerry ready to walk over to the party.

First, we started outside with a larger camp fire, and many people showed up for the party.

Rachel and Kerry got to be 'vikings' for one night. Here they are testing the local beer and 'fish jerkey' (dried fish and also called Nord-Norwegian candy).

Next tester was Salted and boiled ribs of lamb. The ribs were lightly grilled in the ambers of the camp fire. Very tasty.

Rachel slicing up some salted and dried leg of lamb. A very yummy snacks with beer.

After a while the wind picked up and it was time to move inside the 'lavvo'. In this photos you see Are (a classmate of mine from elementary school) with Kerry and Rachel.

Are realized that Kerry's feet were really cold, and started a long process of warming them up.
It became very amusing (for everyone watching, anyway) when socks came off and Are started trying to warm up her feet.

Ok, there is no hope, so we better use the knife......he-he

Another guest, stripped his 'real' wool socks off and Kerry got to wear those the rest of the night.

There is supposed to be an oven in the middle of the 'lavvo', but it will be installed when it is in the permanent location. A temporary portable fire pit was used for heat instead.

Some of the guests enjoying the warmth: Kolbjørn, Tony, Kirsten and Tone.

Ola, Helge, Erlend 'the Viking' and Ranja. Tone brought several lamb skins to sit on.
Warm and cozy.
