Another Beautiful day for outdoors activities.
Thursday, 9/4

From the left: Veronica, Kerry, Barbara, Rachel, Gabi; the cousins on their way to the beach.

We found Kirsten and Tony's wild sheep on the way. Barbara posing.

Veronica is the back and Gabi. The water ponds build up as the snow melts and the ground is still frozen. In our area only the upper layer of the ground freezes in the winter time. There is no tundra (layers underneath upper layers of ground never thaws) here. Most of the tundra in the world is in Russia, Canada and Alaska.

There is a grilling pit built up several places by the beach. This specific location is perfect when there are eastern winds. Nice and calm.

Skipping stones is lots of fun!

We ended up being many people hanging out together; lots of hot dogs grilled and yummy hot chocolate in our tummies. We played a stick game called "Vippe Pinne" (move the stick) and we have a great time. You have a pit of 2 rocks, one shorter stick and one longer. First, you put the short stick on the rocks in the pit (like Rachel has them in the photo), then you try to move it as far away from the pit as possible. The 'outfield' team has to try to catch it. If not, the player on the 'infield' team get to hit the short stick (with the long stick) one time and as far as possible. The next hit is two times and then finally three times. You get points as you go along and everyone gets to have a chance. It is a fun game that we played lots when we were kids.

A nice relaxing afternoon after lots of sun and exercise. Playing cards with cousins is fun!
