The girls had fall break from school a couple of days last week. We made an effort on being outside and doing physical activity. One day we went to the water play land in the city, and the girls played for 2 1/2 hours. The next day, we hiked all the way from the beach to the very top of Sandsøy.

This photo is from the beach. Many new treasures were found.

This is from the hike on the way to the top looking south where you can still see the sun. The sun sets about 5:30pm now and it gets dark very quickly.

This is the very top with the same background as the beach photo.

At the top you can find a box with binoculars so you can see what's moving around the island (i.e. moose, sheep). Also, there is a recording that the choir from Sandsøy has made with a song about an island far out in the ocean.

There are several sheets with information about what other islands you can see and what all the large mountain tops are called. Sandsøy has a very interesting geological split down the middle and there is plenty of information about this. We had a great time hiking. Very windy day, but warm hats and wind breakers kept us warm. We ended our beautiful hike with hot chocolate at home. Yum-yum.

I love these pictures of the girls in front of that beautiful backdrop! It was a nice, uplifting reprieve after scrolling through the pictures of your moose!
p.s. Go on, tell us, what does moose meat taste like? And how many pounds of meat does a single animal produce?
